INTRODUCTION
The subject of Volunteering in the community that’s provide students with the practical of working experience, provide students self confidence and practicing good communication with other people, explore new knowledge in the working area and help students to make a plan to further develop the employability competencies, strength and weaknesses.
This subject gives students an opportunity to gain experience and understanding of a local voluntary or community. This is achieved by us planning and participating as a volunteer. This will support us in developing a number of transferable skills such as planning, negotiating, problem solving, assertiveness and teamwork. It will also reflect on and gain an understanding of the impact of volunteering in the community.
For the first program that we planned to fulfill requirement of this subject is “Sesuci Kasih Ramadhan”. This program has been conducted by Mohd. Firdaus B. Jamaluddin as a director of program, with the co-operation by KTPM KL management all things can be done well. This program has been done on Friday, September 11, 2009 until Saturday, September 12, 2009 at “Rumah Anak-anak Yatim Darul Falah, Bukit Payung, Kuala Terengganu” which involve all 36 students in Volunteering in the Community Section 2. It also received from various parties, especially the orphans at Darul Falah and those villages in the surrounding areas including the authorities in the village.
OBJECTIVE
- To promote KPTM to outsider as one of IPTS to further study in high level.
- encourage participants to do charity in society
- To determine the capability of performance in able to compete with others institution.
- To educate and help children realize their dreams and develop closer unity friendship, co-operation and brotherhood among members and to encourage moral.
ACTIVITIES FOR THE PROGRAM Sesuci Kasih Ramadhan (“Majlis Berbuka & Bersahur”)
- Ready to cooking for “berbuka”
- “Berbuka”
- “Solat maghrib, solat isya’ and terawih”
- Friendly with “Anak Yatim”
- “Solat subuh” and “ kuliah subuh”
- Clean and tidy up mosque
- Wash and clean dining hall(canteen)
- Distribute donation for poor family nearly village
- Clean cement water tank and clear court yard
- Brought “anak-anak yatim” go to bazaar
- Give hamper and sponsor from KPTM
PROGRAM OUTCOME
- We learn how to deal with VVIP, politician, and other people to support the program from various aspects (e.g sponsorship, venue, transportation, publicity)
- Furthermore we also deal with several departments in KPTM KL, to ensure the programmed proposal was approved.
- Communication with student and lecture in KPTM to collect extra fund for the programmed.
- This program exposes us in dealing with community.
- We know to manage the large event involve large budget.
- From this program we know the real environment in ‘Darul Falah’ orphanage and poor family and create awareness among us.
- Be more close with the community to help in future working environment.
- This program is a good experience for us to good improve future program.
- We learn how to create a good proposal in a short period of time.
- We get knowledge how to create a formal letter for sponsorship, VVIP, media and politician.
- We know how to plan program and handle to ensure it run smoothly.
- We learn how to solve the problem, with discussion by group member and accept any ideas from others people.
